Year End Giving: Support Atchison Nonprofits

Year-end planning, IRA giving, and trusting the nonprofits you love
Posted Friday October 9, 2026

Hello from downtown Atchison!

It’s an honor to work alongside everyone behind the 90 local funds that call the Atchison Foundation home, and everyone who has given to one of our community initiatives. We’re also having great conversations with individuals, families, and businesses across Atchison County who are exploring how a fund could help organize their giving around the causes they care about. Thank you.

Year-end is getting close, which means giving appeals are piling up in your inbox, your mailbox, and your meetings with tax and estate advisors. We’re always glad to help you cut through the noise with practical ideas.

Cut through the year-end giving noise
Year-end advice is everywhere. Which decisions actually deserve your attention? We’ve boiled it down to five steps: get clear on what you want to accomplish, choose which assets to give, understand the new 2026 tax rules, look at your IRA options, and start now while there’s still time.

Give your IRA a high five
IRAs and other retirement accounts can do a lot of good, but the rules trip up almost everyone. Here are five things to know about qualified charitable distributions (QCDs) and retirement assets, plus a bonus reminder of how we work alongside you and your advisors.

What do you need most?
Sometimes the best way to support your favorite nonprofits is to ask the people closest to the work. We take a practical look at trust-based giving: unrestricted and multi-year gifts, listening to nonprofit leaders, and how the Atchison Foundation can help you put those ideas into practice.

Thank you for letting us be part of your giving. Reach out anytime. We’d love to hear what’s on your mind as year-end approaches.
