ATCHISON, Kan. — On Friday, August 14, Atchison County donors rallied behind 68 local nonprofits, raising a record $997,782.51 during the Atchison Foundation’s sixth annual All Aboard Atchison Match Day. The total included $847,782.51 in individual donations and $150,000 in matching funds provided by generous local sponsors, a grant from the Courtney S. Turner Foundation, and a matching grant from the Patterson Family Foundation through the Kansas Association of Community Foundations (KACF).
“We continue to see growth each year with Match Day. This year, I was encouraged to see all 68 nonprofit organizations receive donations. In addition, 1,480 gifts were made during the event, which is a huge feat for a community our size,” said Ethan Hausmann, chair of the Atchison Foundation Board of Directors.
Several local organizations are ready to put these funds to work. The Atchison After School Club, formerly the Boys & Girls Club of Atchison, surpassed its $25,000 goal by raising $28,168.84 across 18 gifts. The club serves children each day after school, providing a safe place for homework, play, and skill-building. Match Day funds will support eight weeks of summer camps and special programs offered throughout the year.
The Atchison County Food Pantry raised $27,208.17 across 67 gifts. As an all-volunteer organization, the food pantry relies on donations to fulfill its bi-weekly food distributions. In the first six months of 2026 alone, the organization saw a 25% increase in the number of households receiving food. Match Day donations will help offset the costs of food purchases, office supplies, and transportation.
The Atchison Foundation extends its gratitude to the sponsors whose support helped make this year’s matching funds possible: Patterson Family Foundation, Courtney S. Turner Foundation, Berger Company, Pratt Family Charitable Foundation, Adair/Exchange Bank Foundation, Benedictine Sisters of Mount St. Scholastica, Union State Bank, Jennifer & Pat Maxwell/Thrivent, and Rainbow Communications. Their generosity amplified local donations and increased the impact of Match Day.
This year’s success underscores the power of local giving multiplied through strategic partnerships, ensuring that essential community organizations have the resources they need to thrive.
