We Put the "Atch" in "Match"
The fifth annual All Aboard Atchison Match Day is quickly approaching (August 22, come by plane, train, or automobile…!) and as we count down to this day of incredible philanthropic generosity in town, it seems worthwhile to explore the benefits of the event and why it is so significant. The Community Foundation serves nearly eighty different non-profit organizations in town, and close to sixty of those will be participating in this event. So, what is Match Day?
Match Day is a yearly event where $150,000 in matching dollars are generously given by various local donors in order to provide additional support to the efforts of the community facing organizations in Atchison County. There are a wide variety of organizations and the populations that they serve are diverse. From food insecurity and public art, to education and maintenance of public land, each of these organizations relies on the generosity of donors to achieve their yearly goals. Match Day allows them to receive a little extra.
The Match Day happy hour event also provides a family friendly and fun environment for anyone in our community to come see the different organizations that operate in town. In addition to being a great opportunity for donations to get a little more bang for their buck, this event is effectively the Atchison County “club fair.”Curious a bout what programs in our area serve the elderly? Come to Match Day to find out! Do you have a student that needs volunteer hours but doesn’t know where to start or where they want to spend their time? Come to Match Day and find who needs volunteers with a heart for their cause. Would you like to contribute to a charitable cause but feel no strong connection to anything that you have heard of previously? Help us put the “Atch” in Match Day and meet the people behind the missions that you hear about. Hear their stories and see the work that they do.
Our community is full of generous hearts and people who feel deeply rooted here in North-East Kansas. This event is the premier opportunity to engage with your community in a new way, be inspired by the good things happening in town, and show your support for the causes you care about. Plus, the drinks and snacks sweeten the deal.
So please, join us! In person giving and learning is on August 22, from 4:00-7:00pm at the Atchison Event Center. Online giving is available on AllAboardAtchison.com from 12:00am on August 22 to 11:59pm on August 24. Checks can be mailed to the Atchison Area Community Foundation, PO Box 387, Atchison KS 66002 and must include a donation form – available at AllAboardAtchison.com and must be postmarked by August 22, 2025. There is no better time to make an impact and be impacted in the Atchison Area, and on behalf of the Community Foundation and the non-profits we serve, thank you for your generosity.
