Atchison Foundation Announces New Executive Director

The Atchison Foundation (formerly the Atchison Area Community Foundation) is pleased to announce the appointment of Christa Rieger as its new Executive Director, effective June 8, 2026.

Rieger brings more than 15 years of experience across nonprofit, healthcare, higher education, and community organizations, with a proven track record in donor communications, fundraising campaigns, and strategic partnerships. She steps into the role with a clear commitment: to help build a thriving, connected Atchison County where every person can play a role in shaping the community's future through local giving.

A familiar face in Atchison, Rieger currently serves as President of Project Atchison and has seen firsthand what the Foundation's work makes possible — helping shift the organization from chasing funding to operating with the stability needed to build stronger programs and serve the community well.

Most recently, she owned and operated Storyweaver Brands and Storyweaver Studio, serving nonprofits, businesses, and families across the region through strategic branding, communications, and photography. 

Prior to entrepreneurship, she held advancement and communications roles at Benedictine College and Donnelly College. She holds dual degrees in Public Relations/Advertising and Graphic Design from Drury University and completed MBA coursework at Benedictine College.

As Executive Director, Rieger will oversee the Foundation's strategic direction, operations, and community partnerships, working closely with the Board of Directors, supporters, and fund holders.
