THANK YOU (#ATCHISONSTRONG) - Yard Sign

This a yard sign pretty much speaks for itself - THANK YOU (#ATCHISONSTRONG), acknowledges all of the important service workers - (i.e. medical, police, fire, etc), as well as those other essential businesses that have been open during this COVID-19 pandemic.

This one-sided yard sign (24" x 18"), with metal stake, will be available for sale for $25 (per sign), at the Atchison Area Chamber of Commerce Offices, 200 South 10th Street, starting on Monday, May 18th.

$15 of the $25 will be redirected to local nonprofits in our community who continue to service individuals and families, with AACF holding back the remaining $10 to help cover costs of the signs, as well as putting these proceeds back into the COVID-19 Fund, or even better yet, buy more signs!  As we've only ordered 500 signs, initially.

When paying online, just print out your receipt and show it to the Chamber Staff member when picking up your sign, for proof of purchase.

1.    What is the AACF 2020 COVID-19 Recovery Fund?

The 2020 COVID-19 Recovery Fund with the Atchison Area Community Foundation has been established to receive donations to benefit those in the Atchison County community, who are in great need as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic / economic crisis. We know that the impact of the coronavirus will make it financially challenging for area non- profit agencies to meet the needs for recovery from this event. The 2020 COVID-19 Recovery Fund will focus on the short-term and long-term recovery of our Atchison County community residents that have, or will be affected.

This fund is able to accept contributions from individual donors, corporations, and foundations.

2.    Why support both short-term and long-term recovery? Why not just immediate relief?

When a disaster strikes, on average, 70% of donations are directed to immediate relief, and a significantly smaller portion goes to recovery and rebuilding, a process that can take many years. Long after media attention has shifted, the Atchison Area Community Foundation will continue to provide support to address the significant long-term critical needs of our local nonprofits, and individuals they serve.

3.    Why Atchison Area Community Foundation?

Atchison Area Community Foundation is credible, transparent, and connected. In response to the COVID- 19 pandemic / economic crisis, AACF has established the 2020 COVID-19 Recovery Fund

In 2019 AACF was established to enrich the lives of the people in our community through philanthropy. We are a source of funding for local nonprofits and public entities. We are committed to building philanthropy and connecting people who care with causes that matter.

4.    Who will the 2020 COVID-19 Recovery Fund support?

The 2020 COVID-19 Recovery Fund will support various non-profit organizations that have a defined role in short-term and long-term recovery efforts. Providing critical services including things such as emergency food distribution, shelter and long-term housing, emotional and spiritual care, economic and rental assistance, education, healthcare, and more to those in most need during this pandemic /economic crisis. These non-profit entities provide direct support to those affected, and will need support to grow their services to meet those needs.

All the monies donated to support this fund, will be distributed to various charities' operations and services, to help them increase their ability to serve people affected from this COVID-19, coronavirus – pandemic / economic crisis.

5.    How can I make a charitable donation?

6.    How can my organization receive a grant from the 2020 COVID-19 Recovery Fund?

The initial distribution of funds will be made to organizations “on the ground” providing direct assistance, and who will be there during long-term recovery operations.

7.    I’ve been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and I’m looking for support.
Can I apply to the 2020 COVID-19 Recovery Fund?

The COVID-19 Recovery Fund was specifically set up to provide grants to various non-profit partners, who in turn work with individuals, and families. If you are in need of assistance, please reach out to one of the local social service agencies such as: Atchison Salvation Army, Catholic Charities of NE Kansas – (Atchison Support Center), or Atchison United Way.
